Members of the Veterans Service Comm. participated in the annual “Wreaths across America” at the Northern Nevada Veterans Memorial Cemetery, Fernley, on December 14th. Justin Hoch and his daughter Kennedy, JR Stafford, Robb Smith, Ray Scow and Jim Mort helped along with hundreds of other volunteers to lay fresh wreaths at the grave markers of our local veterans.
Formed in 2007, Wreaths across America (WAA), a non-profit 501(c)(3) organization, has grown to placing over 2.7 million sponsored veterans’ wreaths on headstones of our nation's service members at 3,702 participating locations. In 2008, the US Congress unanimously voted to declare December 13th as “Wreaths Across America Day." The Mission of WAA is “to remember the men and women who served our country, honor our military and their families, and teach our children about our freedom and those who protect it”.
